The healthcare industry continues to evolve and grow, and with it, the healthcare sales niche. With job satisfaction high, salaries on the rise, and a growing numbers of medical sales jobs, it’s a great time to be working in the field.  But what about the outlook for medical equipment and medical device sales, specifically?  How is 2016 shaping up for them?
The State of Medical Equipment Sales Jobs
Out of approximately 9,000 medical sales jobs posted on MedReps, count, approximately 700 are categorized as durable medical equipment jobs or capital equipment jobs. The medical device job count is higher – approximately 4,000 – but medical equipment sales jobs come with higher paychecks. The average medical equipment sales salary is $152,199, and equipment reps are generally quite happy with their income.
The 2016 Medical Equipment Salary Report compiled by MedReps showed that besides a lucrative salary, other perks including company cars or car allowances, expense accounts, and stock options helped to keep sales reps more than satisfied.  These advantages contributed to a combined 77% of respondents who were either very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with their medical device jobs.  Additionally, “The total compensation packages, combined with other factors such as flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to make a difference contribute to overall job satisfaction, which is high among these respondents,” claimed the report.
What It Means
With all signs pointing to positive growth for the rest of 2016, the medical equipment industry is poised to see gains in the number of available jobs as well as increased job security, among others.  This also means that incomes should remain stable and opportunities for advancement will most likely improve.  By all accounts, the medical equipment sales force will continue to enjoy a great work experience.
